One approach is to start with the little things – donate or sell all the things you don’t want to pack. Less to pack means paying less on the moving agency. In the event you can’t bear to part with a piece of furniture, but it won’t fit into your new digs, consider asking a friend if they would mind “sitting” it for you until you can decide what to do with it.

Do you have a pantry full of food? Start cooking – use opened packets, refrigerator and freezer items – invite friends around to help you eat; bake cookies and cakes and give them away as ‘thank you’ presents to friends and neighbors. Having less food to move means less chance of spillage, spoilage and will make turning off your fridge and freezer for transportation much simpler. Also, if your electrical items, such as fridge, microwave, kettle etc., will be in storage for a while, put a dry tea-bag inside each of them – it'll help absorb any wetness and odor, meaning you hopefully won’t have mold to clean once you unpack the items.

Obama administration proposes changes to the legal status of the application

Once approved, the person will be required to briefly leave the country to take a legal visa abroad.

At this time, families often separated for a few months as they await resolution of their application. Changes can reduce that time apart for one week in some cases, officials said. The White House hopes the new procedures could be in place by the end of the year.

David Leopold, Cleveland lawyer and President of the United States immigration lawyers Assn., called the changes “minor tweaks processing, but has a value which is great for the family.”
